Action for Children

As long as it takes

Action for Children was one of three charities that benefited from our first ever Facebook campaign Pass the Pennies.  Facebook users passed virtual pennies around the social media site and each virtual penny was matched with a real one.

Action for Children is a UK children’s charity committed to helping the most vulnerable and neglected children, young people and their families break through injustice, deprivation and inequality, so they can achieve their full potential.

They believe passionately that all children and young people have unique potential and deserve the opportunities and support to reach it – no matter where they come from, what they may have done, or had done to them.

    They specialise in working with:

    • families in crisis – running childcare courses, family mediation and emergency intervention support for family breakdown
    • disabled children – offering day care, respite care, after-school clubs, supported housing and home care
    • children in need of safe homes – providing adoption and fostering services as well as support services to help children overcome the disadvantages of not living with their birth family
    • young people who have experienced severe difficulties in their lives – giving them the skills to live independently, and helping them get into employment, education or training

Action for Children’s work is delivered via a network of 481 projects right across the UK, which operate at the very heart of local communities. Every day these projects tackle issues such as neglect, abuse, homelessness, employability, self-harm, crime and substance abuse.

They currently support around 200,000 children, young people and their families. But their vision means they can’t act alone. Through the help of your pennies, they can help to make a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable and neglected children in the UK, working for them, for as long as it takes.
