Children's Burns Trust

Prevention, rehabilitation and support

The Children’s Burns Trust works right across the UK in partnership with NHS professionals and other groups. The charity has three main aims:

Prevention – The charity aims to reduce the number of burns and scalds that happen to children, accidents that can have life-long implications. They do this by raising awareness of the causes and incidence of these injuries and provide advice and guidance on prevention.

Rehabilitation – A burn injury is for life and the scars are both physical and psychological. The Children’s Burns Trust aims to help children and young people to grow up and lead as normal a life as possible. Support can range from medical equipment to family therapy weekends and physiotherapy and occupational therapy to fun-filled activity breaks. The key is that rehabilitation is long-term and so is the commitment of the Children’s Burns Trust, to be with the child and their family every step of the way.

Support – This includes giving direct financial support to families and equipment to hospitals. Signposting services are also provided. These services are crucial, helping families to find the information and services that they need often at a time of real stress.
