[...] Last November marked the first birthday of Pennies, the microdonation scheme run by The Pennies Foundation enabling UK retailers to offer their customers the opportunity to round-up the price of a purchase to the nearest pound as a donation to one of a selection of charities. The date was marked with the news that Pennies had raised just over £250k in its first 12 months, through one million ’round-to-the-pound’ donations. At the anniversary celebration the Pennies Foundation Chief Executive was quoted as saying “Clearly it’s early days, but we believe that 2012 could prove a real turning-point for microdonations” and their confidence can only have been added to with the news earlier this month that they had passed 1.5 million donations and £366k by the end of 2011.
Hi Maurice,

Pennies is designed for when you pay for things by card; in store, online or by mobile. It's your choice every time whether you donate or not, so we don't provide the option to set up a regular standing order. Pennies is designed to sit alongside regular giving so if you have a favourite charity in mind, you can set up a standing order directly with them and just donate through Pennies whenever you have the option when shopping or eating out.

Pennies Staff,

I am a Public Relation student at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama in the United States. I found this listing and am very interested in your organization. I plan on spending the summer abroad interning.

I have training and experience in marketing, journalism, public speaking and event planning. I have the PR experience of writing news letters and press releases and conducting media relations. I also have extensive knowledge of film production, editing and photography.

I am not available for six months however I can be available from May through July. I would love to know of any possible opportunities. Thank you for your time.

Best,

Julia Robertson
