Our first retailer talks about Pennies
Domino’s was Pennies’ first retailer, switching on in November 2010. By February 2012 their customers had donated one million times, raising £230,000 for charity. The majority of the money goes to Special Olympics GB.
Their customers said:
“I like the new charity stuff. Very nice idea, roundings are always a waste, in this way they become useful for someone.”
“I like the new option to round up the price of your order to donate a few pence to charity. If everyone who orders donates just a few pence, it can make an enormous difference to the world, so I appreciate the opportunity to quickly and easily make a small donation.”
“I think the donation to charity by rounding up to the nearest £ is a great idea:)”
Their senior team said:
Lance Batchelor, CEO, Domino’s Pizza Group
“We are delighted that the Pennies scheme has been so well received by our customers… In these times of economic hardship it is heart-warming to know that people are still happy to share what they have. We are very proud and grateful to our customers”
Nick Mortimer, IT Manager
“On-line is a core part of Domino’s sales model, with internet sales rising. This makes speed, simplicity and the stability of all the changes we make to the site crucial business factors. My initial reaction to the idea of Pennies was that it would be too complex and difficult to implement. It was actually one of the quickest and most straightforward implementations of 2010, it’s stable, simple to operate and given the number of people who choose to round-up, popular with our customers too.”
Georgina Wald, Corporate Communications Manager
“Our customers have really taken to the Pennies initiative. It provides an easy way for them to donate a small amount to charity with the added benefit of being part of something big.”
“It also provides a fantastic way to support our corporate donation to Special Olympics and it is simple and easy to manage. It’s such a great idea – and I’m sure that many more companies will be signing up.”
