Grimsby and Cleethorpes

Bringing Pennies to small retailers for the first time with Cardsave

Been wondering when you’ll be able to give those pennies at your local wine bar or hairdresser?  The answer is now, as customers paying by card in shops and businesses in Grimsby and Cleethorpes can top up their bill by 25p and donate their ‘spare change’ electronically to local charities. To launch this new community initiative, Pennies have worked with Cardsave, the Grimsby-based provider of point of sale card processing solutions for small to medium-sized businesses.

Seventy-five percent of the money raised will go to local hospice St Andrew’s, with the other 25% going into a fund that will be distributed amongst local charities.

This is the first time smaller retailers have been able to join in the micro-donation movement which until now has only involved national retailers. We’re hoping the Grimsby and Cleethorpes initiative can be replicated across the UK and allowing more and more retailers to become Pennies enabled.
